A BOLD VISION
A Message From The Idyllwild Arts President
Believing that art is the greatest teacher of humanity is a defining element of Idyllwild Arts’ educational philosophy and distinguishes Idyllwild Arts Academy from other arts schools in the country. Since its founding, Idyllwild Arts has dedicated excellence in artmaking to the service of people from different backgrounds and cultures.
In this digital age, when creativity and innovation are the competencies needed to address the world’s most complex challenges, Idyllwild Arts is uniquely positioned and specifically qualified to inspire and teach citizen artists from around the world who wish to make a difference in the communities in which they live and serve. A new organizational model will allow Idyllwild Arts to attain a secure position as the most dynamic arts community in the nation.
Building on the unique and successful programs of Idyllwild Arts Academy, the new model will reach learners through five distinct opportunities:
The Academy
IDYLLWILD ARTS ACADEMY, the world-renowned residential high school for the arts. We will introduce innovative new coursework and educational technologies to ensure that faculty, staff and students are well-positioned to navigate our evolving 21st century landscape.
Native American Arts Center
NATIVE AMERICAN ARTS CENTER, a cultural center at Idyllwild Arts created to be the nation’s preeminent center for Indigenous art education and research; celebrating a continuum of supporting and advancing Native American Arts and artists for wide and diverse audiences.
Institute for Teaching & Learning
Summer Program
IDYLLWILD ARTS SUMMER PROGRAM, the flagship program for learners of all ages that has offered a magical artistic retreat for over 75 years, will continue to serve life-long learners with unique coursework and celebrated instructors.
Center for Creativity & Social Entrepreneurship
CENTER FOR CREATIVITY & SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP, a multi-dimensional learning center that will offer young artists interdisciplinary learning opportunities to reflect, connect, analyze, and engage with the world around them.
INSTITUTE FOR TEACHING & LEARNING, an arts education resource center where Idyllwild Arts faculty and specialized educators can explore best practices, share knowledge, and design innovative lesson plans and curricula for a new generation of engaged global citizen artists.
This new model brings together young artists, educators, and adult learners who seek to embrace the arts and believe that art itself demands constant and necessary growth—personally, professionally, and globally.
Now is the time to activate our vision to realize a sustainable future where Idyllwild Arts becomes the most dynamic arts community in the nation. So, we have now launched a capital campaign specifically designed to enhance existing programming, create new programs and institutes, and improve campus buildings and infrastructure. I hope you’ll join us as we Advance Our Promise.
THE CAMPAIGN
Advancing Our Promise
Advancing Our Promise is designed to activate and implement the new vision of Idyllwild Arts, strengthen relationships with longtime champions, and build new support. This 3 year campaign seeks to raise $12 million and is structured around three key pillars:
I. ENHANCEMENT OF CORE PROGRAMMING
The Academy and Summer Program remain at the heart of Idyllwild Arts. The campaign will strengthen our foundation, ensuring our signature programs continue to provide the highest level of artistic education for students of all ages.
II. INNOVATIVE EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP
Idyllwild Arts requires creative, visionary leadership with proven expertise to effectively launch new initiatives that will be critical to long-term success.
III. INFRASTRUCTURE AND CAPITAL
The Idyllwild Arts campus is unique and requires renovation, restoration, and the creation of new facilities focused on safety and security, environmental sustainability, and campus housing.
Idyllwild Arts is proud to share that we have raised $8.2 million towards the $12 million goal!
Support for Advancing Our Promise honors over seven decades of exploration and innovation while investing in the future of Idyllwild Arts as a true leader in 21st-century arts education.
THERE SHOULD BE NO DIVIDING LINE BETWEEN ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE AND SOCIAL CONSCIOUSNESS.
— Joseph W. Polisi, former president, The Juilliard School
A NEW LOOK
ART(WORK) AS INSPIRATION
Thought-provoking and powerful student artwork is everywhere at Idyllwild Arts, which is why our new brand is lifted from and centered on our students' artistic creations. The new brand identity reflects the impressive contributions of the citizen artists who have been trained, molded, and cultivated at Idyllwild Arts for nearly 75 years.
HONORING SACRED SPACES
The campus and spaces inspired nearly every visual element of the new graphic identity for Idyllwild Arts.
We are on Cahuilla land and the Cahuilla people believe nothing is sacred because everything is a sacred space.
